Gaming in the pandemic

Well the end as they say is nigh. with the vaccine being rolled out there is the possibility of easing of restrictions. Wargamers everywhere will no doubt race to the tabletops to engage their chums in SAGA and other such games.

But how has gaming been during this pandemic? For many of us it has been the total cease of all gaming activities and in some cases the loss of enthusiasm for painting without the prospect of being able to field the models.

Others lucky enough to have Gaming family or partners as in my case have been able to continue our hobby activities even if it means the same opponent every time.

For others there is the virtual world and one I confess, I have been slow to engage with.. such online systems as Vassal, Universal battles (which I used to play Warhammer fantasy on regularly) and table top battle simulator which I confess looks very good.

Finally (to my knowledge) there is the simple manner of one player hosting a game and the other controlling figures via video links such as Skype or other messaging applications.

For those who still are unable to bring an opponent to the table fear not. Joe ever the fan of scenario writing has developed a system for solo war gaming in saga. this is his second creation and has had some positive feedback for those who have tried it.

Well that is all for now. I hope you all stay safe and we hope to see you when things have calmed down a bit.

I spent most of my days on building sites involved in and around brickwork. I've recently been following my passion for history and decided to jump in fully by starting university in my 30's.
